Our Dental Services

Dental Crowns That Repair and Restore Your Smile

A damaged or weakened tooth doesn’t have to mean losing it. Crowns are custom-fitted caps that cover a tooth completely, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. Our dentist uses advanced digital scanners and 3D imaging to make sure every crown fits precisely and looks natural alongside your other teeth.

Not Every Crown Means a Long, Complicated Process

Many people assume getting a crown takes multiple long visits and a lot of discomfort. That’s not always the case. Same-day treatment options help reduce unnecessary trips back to our practice.

Here’s what the crown process often involves:

  • Examining and preparing the damaged tooth
  • Taking a precise digital scan for an accurate fit
  • Placing a temporary crown while your permanent one is made
  • Checking your bite and comfort at the fitting
  • Cementing the final crown securely in place

Protecting a Tooth Before the Damage Gets Worse

Waiting too long to address a cracked or decayed tooth often leads to bigger problems. A crown placed at the right time can prevent the need for an extraction later. It shields what remains from further wear, pressure, and bacteria.

Signs it may be time to ask about a crown:

  • A tooth has a visible crack or chip
  • Decay has damaged a large portion of the tooth
  • An old filling is failing or breaking down
  • You feel pain when biting or chewing
  • A tooth has had a root canal and needs protection

Oil Hill Dental makes it straightforward to get started, even if you’re unsure about what you need. Our team is approachable, patient, and ready to talk through your situation without making it feel overwhelming. Reach out today and our team will point you in the right direction.

Tooth-Colored Fillings That Look and Feel Natural

Cavities are one of the most common dental problems people face, but treating them doesn’t have to change the way your smile looks. Tooth-colored fillings repair decayed areas using a material that blends seamlessly with your natural tooth. No dark metal, no obvious patch.

Our dentist matches the filling shade to your existing tooth color, so the result looks like nothing was ever there.

Why Tooth-Colored Fillings Stand Apart From Older Options

Metal amalgam fillings were the standard for decades, but tooth-colored alternatives have changed what patients can expect from restorative care. Beyond appearance, the material bonds directly to the tooth, which means less healthy structure needs to be removed during prep.

Here’s what makes tooth-colored fillings a preferred choice:

  • The material is durable and stain-resistant over time
  • Less drilling is typically needed compared to metal fillings
  • The material bonds to the tooth for added support
  • No temperature sensitivity caused by metal expanding or contracting
  • They’re available for both new cavities and replacing old metal fillings

Getting Ahead of Cavities Before They Grow

A small cavity treated early stays a small problem. Left alone, decay spreads deeper into the tooth, eventually reaching the nerve. At that point, the treatment required becomes far more involved than a simple filling.

Catching decay early keeps your options straightforward. Our dentist takes a patient-centered approach. No pressure, just honest information so you can make the right call for your health.

Watch for these early warning signs:

  • Tooth sensitivity to sweets or temperature
  • A visible spot or discoloration on a tooth
  • Mild pain when biting down
  • A rough or chalky texture on the surface of a tooth
  • A persistent bad taste or odor that does not go away with brushing

At Oil Hill Dental, every patient is treated with care and respect from the moment they walk in. Our practice is built around making people feel comfortable, not rushed or judged. That same standard applies to every filling appointment, start to finish.

Dental Cleanings That Keep Small Problems From Becoming Big Ones

Routine cleanings do more than polish your teeth. They remove built-up tartar that regular brushing can’t reach, give our dentist a chance to spot early signs of decay or gum disease, and set the foundation for lasting oral health. Skipping them often means catching problems later, when treatment is more involved.

The Real Cost of Skipping Your Routine Visit

Putting off a cleaning might seem harmless, but plaque hardens into tartar quickly. Tartar can only be removed by a dental professional. Over time, buildup along the gumline leads to inflammation, gum disease, and eventual tooth loss.

A twice-yearly cleaning catches these issues before they escalate:

  • Tartar is removed from areas brushing misses
  • Gum health is evaluated at every visit
  • X-rays help detect decay hidden between teeth
  • Early signs of oral cancer can be identified
  • Our dentist documents changes over time for accurate comparisons

Building Habits That Protect Your Smile for Decades

Consistent preventive care is one of the most powerful things you can do for your long-term health. Patients who maintain regular cleanings tend to need far fewer restorative procedures over their lifetime. That means less time in the chair overall.

Good long-term oral health starts with:

  • Scheduling cleanings every six months
  • Pairing home care with professional treatment
  • Addressing small concerns before they worsen
  • Brushing and flossing consistently between visits
  • Staying mindful of your diet and its effect on enamel

Oil Hill Dental is proud to serve El Dorado and the surrounding communities as a practice patients can count on year after year. Routine visits are a big part of how we build lasting relationships with the people we care for. We look forward to seeing you at your next appointment.

What to Know About Dental Emergencies Before One Happens

Dental emergencies rarely give any warning. A cracked tooth, sudden severe pain, or a knocked-out tooth can happen to anyone at any time. Knowing where to turn and acting fast makes a real difference in the outcome. Our dentist is ready to see urgent cases as quickly as possible, often the same day you call.

Don’t wait hoping it resolves on its own. Most dental emergencies get worse without prompt care.

Common Emergencies and How We Address Them

Not every urgent situation looks the same. Some patients come in with throbbing pain from an abscess. Others arrive with a broken tooth from an unexpected fall or injury. Our dentist takes time to assess each situation accurately using advanced tools like CBCT 3D imaging and dental lasers for precise, comfortable treatment.

Situations that call for an emergency visit include:

  • Severe or worsening tooth pain
  • A cracked, chipped, or knocked-out tooth
  • A lost or broken filling or crown
  • Swelling in the jaw or gums
  • A dental injury from an accident or impact

How Fast Treatment Protects Your Long-Term Oral Health

Delaying emergency care often turns a fixable problem into a much larger one. An untreated infection can spread. A cracked tooth left alone may eventually require extraction. Acting quickly gives our dentist the best chance to save the tooth and prevent complications down the road.

Prompt care leads to better outcomes:

  • Infections are treated before they spread
  • Natural teeth have a higher chance of being saved
  • Recovery time is typically shorter with early intervention
  • Early care keeps treatment from becoming more complex
  • Cost of care is often lower when issues are addressed promptly

Dental pain is never something to wait out. We prioritize urgent cases so you’re not left in pain longer than necessary. The sooner you call Oil Hill Dental at 316-251-3565, the sooner our team can assess what’s happening and get you feeling better.

Same-Day Treatments That Get You Back to Feeling Normal Fast

Multiple dental appointments for a single problem can be frustrating, especially if you’re already uncomfortable. Same-day treatments let our dentist address your needs in one visit. Less time away from work, less time in the waiting room, and faster relief.

If you come in with pain, our goal is to take care of it that day whenever possible, including removing a tooth or placing a filling.

What Sets Same-Day Care Apart From Traditional Scheduling

Traditional dental treatment often means coming in for a consultation, scheduling a follow-up, then waiting days or weeks for the actual procedure. Same-day care cuts that process down significantly. Our in-house technology, including digital scanners, 3D printing, and dental lasers, makes it possible to complete accurate, precise work without sending anything to an outside lab.

Here’s how same-day care differs:

  • Diagnosis and treatment happen in a single appointment
  • In-house 3D printing removes the wait for outside lab work
  • Digital scanners produce accurate results quickly
  • Dental lasers support faster, more comfortable treatment
  • Fewer visits means less disruption to your daily routine

How Same-Day Visits Change the Patient Experience

Waiting in pain is one of the most common complaints patients have about dental care. Same-day treatment removes that gap between identifying a problem and actually fixing it. Our dentist takes the time to keep you informed and comfortable throughout the visit, even in time-sensitive situations.

The impact of faster care is real:

  • Pain and discomfort are addressed sooner
  • Dental issues don’t have time to worsen between visits
  • Anxiety about an unresolved problem does not have time to build
  • Patients leave with clear answers and completed treatment

Patients who visit Oil Hill Dental for same-day care leave knowing exactly what was done and what comes next. Our team keeps you informed and at ease, no matter how quickly things need to move. That kind of confidence is something every patient deserves walking out the door.

Invisalign Has Come a Long Way From Early Orthodontic Options

Straightening teeth used to mean years of metal brackets, wires, and adjustments. Clear aligner technology changed that entirely. Invisalign uses a series of custom-fitted, removable trays to gradually shift teeth into position, with no metal, no tightening appointments, and no need to hide your smile during treatment.

Our dentist uses digital scanners to map your teeth precisely, making the fitting process comfortable and mess-free at the very first visit.

Clearing Up Common Misconceptions About Clear Aligners

A lot of patients assume Invisalign is only for minor cosmetic corrections, or that it takes longer than traditional braces. Neither is always true. Invisalign treats a wide range of alignment concerns, and treatment timelines vary based on the individual case, not the method.

Facts worth knowing before ruling it out:

  • Invisalign addresses crowding, spacing, and bite issues
  • Trays are removable for eating, brushing, and flossing
  • Aligner trays are nearly invisible during everyday wear
  • Treatment progress is tracked and adjusted throughout
  • Many cases finish in a comparable timeframe to braces

Addressing the Concerns That Hold Patients Back

Some patients avoid pursuing orthodontic care because they don’t want the look of metal braces as an adult. Others worry about the commitment involved. Our dentist walks through every option clearly, answers questions honestly, and never pressures patients toward a decision.

Common concerns we help patients work through:

  • Uncertainty about whether they’re a good candidate
  • Questions about how aligners affect daily life
  • Understanding what the full treatment process looks like
  • The cost of treatment and what financing options are available
  • Wondering how long treatment will realistically take for their specific situation

Straighter teeth do more than look good. Proper alignment affects how comfortably you bite, how clearly you speak, and how evenly your teeth wear over time. Contact our team at Oil Hill Dental and let’s talk about what Invisalign could do for you.

FAQs

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit typically includes a full dental exam, digital X-rays, and dental cleaning, giving our team a thorough picture of your oral health. Dr. Truong will review your history, discuss any concerns, and walk you through a personalized care plan. The goal is to make sure you leave feeling informed and confident about the path forward.

Do you accept new patients?

Yes, Oil Hill Dental welcomes new patients of all ages and looks forward to serving individuals and families in El Dorado, KS.

How often should I schedule a dental appointment?

Most patients benefit from visiting their dental provider every six months for routine checkups and teeth cleaning. Those managing gum disease, a history of tooth decay, or other ongoing oral health concerns may need to come in more frequently. Our dentist will help you determine a schedule that fits your specific needs.

What counts as a dental emergency, and what should I do?

A dental emergency includes situations like a knocked-out tooth, severe tooth pain, a broken or cracked tooth, or sudden swelling in the mouth or jaw. If you’re experiencing any of these, contact our practice as soon as possible rather than waiting to see if it improves on its own. Our team provides emergency dental care to get you effective treatment quickly.

Is family dentistry available for patients of all ages?

Our practice welcomes patients across a wide range of ages, making it easy for the whole family to receive care in one place. Seeing the same dental team over time helps track long-term oral health patterns and builds a relationship grounded in familiarity and trust. It also makes scheduling more convenient when multiple family members need appointments.

How do I know if I need a deep cleaning versus a routine cleaning?

A routine cleaning removes plaque and tartar buildup from the surface of your teeth and along the gumline. If there are signs of gum disease or significant buildup below the gumline, a deep cleaning, also known as scaling and root planing, may be the more appropriate option. Our dentist will assess your gum health during your exam and clearly explain which approach is recommended and why.

Do you take dental insurance?

We work with many dental insurance plans and are happy to help you understand your benefits before treatment.

What if I’m nervous about going to the dentist?

You’re not alone. Our team takes a gentle, respectful approach and focuses on helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and at ease.

Do you offer same-day dental treatment?

When possible, we offer same-day treatment to minimize extra visits and get you back to feeling your best sooner.

What types of dental services do you provide?

We offer comprehensive care under one roof, including preventive, restorative, cosmetic, orthodontic, and implant dentistry.
